Startups DataQube and Screenloop Scoop Up Funding

Good news for a developer of an edge data centre module and a hiring intelligence platform.

Cambridge and London are alive to the sound of startup action with DataQube Global and Screenloop securing some tech funding.

DataQube, a Cambridge-based developer of an edge data centre module, has bagged €26 million (£22 million) from French investment management company, RGREEN INVEST.

Hiring intelligence platform Screenloop has raised $2.5 million (£1.8 million) from Blissgrowth, Passion Capital, RLC Ventures and GTMfund. The firm is all about “technology, coaching and data to make great hiring decisions at scale”.

DataQube Plays it Cool

DataQube was founded last year. It says the investment will be used for the commercialisation of its modular edge data centre.

David Keegan, CEO of DataQube, states: “Our goal has always been to develop a sustainable solution to support the data centre industry in its drive to reduce C02 targets in line with CSR policies. Big tech firms may well be transitioning from fossil fuel to renewable energy sources, but their overall energy consumption is still growing. This needs to be addressed.”

DataQube explains that it can offer a lower carbon footprint compared to traditional edge computing infrastructures because the energy transfer is dedicated solely to powering computers.

It features a range of cooling options, including immersive cooling in its core internal infrastructure, that enable further consumption and emission savings.

RGREEN INVEST is focused on financing green infrastructure and technology projects. With more than €800 million (£682 million) invested in infragreen and renewable energy markets, this is the company’s first venture in the data centre industry.

Screenloop Has the Right People

London-based Screenloop was established this year. It says its round was oversubscribed and included several founders – Jay Radia (Yieldify & Reachdesk), Paul Forster (Indeed), Tom Blomfield (Monzo), James Hind (Carwow), Eamon Jubbawy (Onfido), Anil Stocker (MarketFinance), Doug Monro (Adzuna), Ivan Mazour (Ometria) and Nick Telson (Horseplay Ventures).

The company’s founding team includes João Leal (ex-Revolut AI lead), Rodrigo Santos (ex-Clearscore Data Lead), Nuno Saldanha (ex-Talkdesk Product Lead) and Anton Boner (ex-Stack Overflow Commercial Director).

Leal explains: “Businesses are struggling to hit their hiring goals and getting the right candidate is more competitive now than possibly ever before. In our analysis often the hiring process for many organisations is inefficient and outdated. During a period of rapid nation-wide recruitment, companies simply cannot afford to waste time and money on hiring the wrong people. Through our intelligent product offering, we can help companies hire the right people quicker.”

Screenloop’s solutions include Source, Interview, Reference and Analytics.

For example, Reference automates that part of the process and users receive insights on future hires. While Analytics matches key attributes for the role, and lets users discover candidate sentiment in real time.

Screenloop has customers in the US, UK and the European Union. Clients include Monzo and Reachdesk.
