US Data Firm Immuta Unveils European HQ in London

Boston-based tech firm feelin' satisfied. It already has a customer base in Europe.

Times are changing for data access and security company Immuta with the launch of its European headquarters in London.

Massachusetts-based Immuta has a customer base in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden. Its European customers include Mercedes-Benz Group, Roche, Swedbank and Berlin-based fintech company Billie.

It’s happy news for Immuta, and it’s more good news for London as plenty of other tech firms have shown an interest in the city.

Brazilian marketing, technology and data solutions company Cadastra announced the opening of a new London office last month. Other examples of an interest in London include US data control firm Ketch, Berlin-based greentech Plan A and San Francisco-based climate tech company Watershed.

In terms of Immuta it is soaking up the positive vibes and recent funding. The firm is making progress as it secured $100 million (£83 million) in Series E funding in June. The new investment brought Immuta’s total financing to $267 million (£222 million).

In today’s (16 August) announcement, Immuta’s CEO, Matthew Carroll, comments: “Immuta’s data teams in the EMEA region can now provide automated data access control at scale across the leading cloud data platforms.”

Colin Mitchell, Immuta’s General Manager for EMEA, will continue leading the team.

The tech firm offers its Data Access Platform, which allows users to share data with users. Immuta says users have “access to the right data at the right time, as long as they have the rights”.

Immuta recently partnered with Swedbank, the third largest bank in the Nordics. The bank’s data team chose to integrate Immuta with its existing Databricks Lake architecture to execute its “Enterprise Analytics in the Cloud initiative” and move its on-premises Hadoop-based data lake to the cloud.

Immuta’s platform is targeted at tech, financial services, insurance, healthcare, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, transportation, retail and public sector organisations.

The company’s partner network of cloud data platforms includes Snowflake, Databricks, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse and Starburst. Recently, Snowflake approved Immuta as its first Snowflake Ready Technology Validation Partner in its “Data Security” category of partners.

Founded in 2015, Immuta is headquartered in Boston. It also has US offices in Columbus, Ohio, and College Park, Maryland.
