Digital Employee Benefits Platform Cloud8 Pushes On via Partnerships

There are BEAM-ing smiles at the Bristol-based company as its digital employee benefits platform makes progress.

Digital employee benefits (EB) platform provider Cloud8 appears to be in a good state with a new managing director (MD) and some recent partnerships in the UK.

As its name suggests, Bristol-based Cloud8 offers a cloud-based platform for advisors, intermediaries and EB consultancies. It provides a subscription-based software, BEAM at Work, which is available to the industry on a licence basis and showcases, manages and reports on EB.

BEAM is described as a digital dashboard created for EB consultants delivering pension or health and risk packages to the HR world. Cloud8 adds that it never goes direct to employers.

Cloud8 was founded in 2019 and its rivals include Caboodle in Cheshire; and Perkbox and Neyber, who are both in London.

Cloud8’s Senior Leadership Team

This week Cloud8 revealed that Dipa Mistry Kandola has been promoted to the position of MD.

Mistry Kandola has stepped up from the role of client strategy director, which she has held since September 2020 before her previous 18 years’ experience in the EB industry.

Ian Rummels, founding director and current CEO of Cloud8, will move to a new founder role, “focusing on innovation and big relationships”.

Mistry Kandola says: “Over the coming months we’ll be growing our senior leadership team, gaining further investment, widening our portfolio of products for advisors and we anticipate announcing a number of important client wins.”

She adds: “As a young under 40, working mum from the BAME community, who did not have a socioeconomic advantage during my education, I hope I can show that through industry experience and determination, it is possible to reach your goals and work at the highest level of industry.”

Partnerships and Funding

Prior to the promotion, Cloud8 had been doing pretty well – aka ship shape and Bristol fashion.

Last month, it signed a partnership to provide Cushon’s savings and investments through its platform, BEAM at Work. The idea is to offer information on pensions and saving options, and let users become “more environmentally aware” when it comes to investments.

In May, Cloud8 partnered with Untangl in London for data onboarding for BEAM at Work. This means all advisers subscribing to Cloud8’s platform get access to Untangl’s data conversion technology, which automatically checks data uploads to the platform, fixes input errors, and replaces manual work with instant cleansed data.

Back in 2020 Proven Legacy provided a debt facility of £250,000 to Cloud8. The funding package, together with an equity investment provided by Chiltern Capital, was for development of the Cloud8 platform.

Cloud8 was spun out from Premier Employment Solutions (PES), a business which also received funding from Proven Legacy in April 2019.
