Node4 Hunts for Microsoft Cloud Boost with risual Acquisition

Managed services provider snaps up Stafford-based firm for an undisclosed sum.

Node4 wants to strengthen its Microsoft Cloud capabilities with the acquisition of IT managed services and solutions provider risual.

Lower-case loving risual is based in Stafford with 170 staff in the UK. Managed services provider Node4 says the firm has been a Microsoft Expert for 17 years, with skills in helping clients in cloud, business and digital. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“As Node4 evolves as a business delivering more cloud-led transformation services, risual represents a perfect fit given its track record, consultancy skills and managed services in the public cloud,” comments Andrew Gilbert, CEO of Node4.

risual’s co-founders, Alun Rogers and Rich Proud, will remain in their leadership roles alongside their management team post-acquisition, with Node4 “committed to all risual employees investing in growth in the years ahead”.

Node4 will also support risual Education, which since 2015, provides end-user training to help organisations across the UK adopt technology, as well as supporting students with qualifications through an apprenticeship program.

Backed by Providence Equity Partners, Node4 states that it’s keen on acquisitions that beef up its cloud skills. This latest deal follows on from Node4’s acquisition of TNP in July 2021, which gave it a portfolio of Microsoft services.

The Derby-based company reckons risual adds revenue and skills to its managed services business, with a focus on all three Microsoft cloud platforms and public and private sector clients.

The case studies on risual’s website tend not to list names, but are generally to do with universities, councils, government departments, police forces and law firms. That said, the Crown Commercial Service is one client that gets a specific mention.

The completion of the acquisition is subject to National Security and Investment act approval.

Node4 has its own data centres in Derby, Leeds and Northampton, and points of presence in London and Manchester.

Node4’s clients include Deutsche Bahn, Nuffield Health, Sky Bet and Stagecoach.
