B2B SaaS Platform cuby Powers Up for Real Estate Dreams

London-based startup feels a bit like Airbnb combined with J. G. Ballard's 1975 novel 'High-Rise'.

Tech startup cuby has fired up in London to offer community spirit and a B2B SaaS platform for operating commercial and real estate (CRE) assets.

cuby explains that its CRE operating model and ecosystem is “tailored to a new type of medium- to long-stay hybrid living and working space focusing obsessively on community, shared experiences and integrated tech”.

The proptech startup is the creation of Finn Schlei (COO) and Lauritz Greve (CEO). Their experience is a mix of an e-learning agency and Credit Suisse. And their new firm has two main angles at its core.

In practical terms, the first means providing B2B software applications not only through a B2C app, but also embedded in buildings. This will be powered by data, analytics and AI-based modelling.

Its SaaS platform is a cloud-based subscription model which enables CRE owners to implement a management and operating model solution.

For example, B2B applications could be used for co-working, student housing, hospitality, sports facilities and education.

It also has the B2C sector or “community” on its mind, as quite a few other tech startups tend to do. (Such as Kent-based payments startup Toonie that was covered in another scoop in March.)

cuby notes: “Forget everything you know about homes. Experience a truly innovative, tech-enabled ecosystem of hybrid living, working and socialising. One which is truly centred around community, with large open-plan shared spaces, furnished private apartments, and with unmatched flexibility and services as the icing on the cake.”

This seems to be an Airbnb-inspired idea where cuby provides apartments. However, customers have the option of privacy or using cuby’s services to do something more social.

The proptech is looking to make profit from shy individuals by arranging trips, brunches, classes, movies, et al., to that community.

With many people in the 21st century feeling isolated (ironically) due to the rise of technology, cuby will feel its plan has potential.

These apartments will become available in Berlin late this year, followed by London and Tel Aviv in 2023.
