Insurtech Loadsure and Online Moderator Bodyguard Bag Funding

Plenty of London-themed action with an insurtech MGA and an online moderation entity getting a boost.

It’s all about London with Loadsure and Bodyguard.ai getting tech funding for their insurtech and metaverse ambitions respectively.

Insurtech MGA Loadsure has raised $11 million (£8.4 million) in Series A funding for its freight insurance technology.

Online moderation entity Bodyguard.ai has got €9 million (£7.5 million) in funding from Keen Venture Partners, Ring Capital and Starquest Capital.

Loadsure on Firm Ground

London-based Loadsure says the round was led by MMC Ventures and alongside Crowley, a maritime, energy, and logistics company; and existing investor Insurtech Gateway.

The tech firm offers a transactional cargo insurance platform and automated claims process.

Loadsure CEO, Johnny McCord, states: “With this infusion of capital, we’ll make the strategic hires necessary to evolve our human-centric technology and make end-to-end risk management instantly available to every business.”

The insurtech says it was the first to digitalise the full cargo insurance life cycle, deliver one-click coverage to the US freight industry, and offer an international, per-shipment insurance API.

The firm was founded in 2018 and is recommended, offered and sold by Ursus Insurance Services. It is underwritten by various syndicates at Lloyd’s.

Bodyguard.ai at the Double

Bodyguard.ai (or just Bodyguard on LinkedIn) is looking to tap into the metaverse craze and deploy moderation in Web3. To do so, the French startup has opened three offices in France, one in Los Angeles and has plans to open a new one in London soon. It is also recruiting staff to double its workforce in 2022.

The tech firm created a mobile app in 2018 and is all about “fighting online hate”. In 2021, Bodyguard.ai launched a B2B offering for businesses and has since continued to develop its solutions.

With linguistic expertise, contextual analysis and technological capabilities, the company says it can accurately moderate more than 95% of toxic content in real-time (less than 200 milliseconds), the artificial intelligence (AI) developed by Bodyguard.ai detects and moderates a plethora of hateful content including threats, racism, misogyny, insults, physical mockery, LGBTQI+phobia, moral and sexual harassment, and “polluting” content (spam, scams and unwanted ads that hinder the quality of interactions).

Bodyguard.ai’s clients include 30 international players in the media (M6 Group, Brut, Konbini), entertainment (Jellysmack), gaming (Powder) and sports (French Professional Football League) industries.

With this new round of fundraising it wants to “become the moderation solution for the metaverse within the next five years”.
