SaaS-y Project Waitless Preps for Nightclub-Focused Launch

"The floor was sticky, and the drinks were flat.” Inspiration comes in many shapes.

London-based tech startup Project Waitless is looking for a good time as it readies to unleash its digital solution for the nightclub industry.

With a specific corner of the hospitality sector on its mind, Project Waitless offers an AI-powered SaaS platform that can brighten up nightclub life with digital ordering, accounting, inventory control and data intelligence.

Zhaomian Zhao, Founder of Project Waitless, tells eWeek UK her reasons for starting the tech firm: “The idea was born out of frustration one night, when my friend and I went clubbing with 2,000 attendants in the venue. It was chaotic and it took us almost half an hour to get a drink. By the time I got to the front of the queue, I had already enough; I wanted to go home. The floor was sticky, and the drinks were flat.”

She adds: “We want to build something that would benefit the stakeholders of nightclubs – managers and customers alike, and more. Our product would be a place that assists the user in making faster decisions, executing faster, increasing employee retention rate, and ultimately free up time to make real connections with their customers, and have a better work-life balance.”

Zhao sees her startup as a proptech company that uses AI to push sales and automate workflow.

The firm is very much about stayin’ alive and not causing rivals to freak out. She explains that Project Waitless is not competing with Square or Lightspeed, rather it is aiming to partner with them, and its infrastructure will be built based on them.

Her experience includes roles in the hospitality sector. For example, Zhao worked at Las Vegas Sands, and built an intelligent casino project with TensorFlow powered by Google Computing Engine. That project lifted room conversion by 60%.

Project Waitless has a team of six, including a senior product manager and developers.

The startup is currently in beta mode and prospective users will have to wait a bit as Project Waitless is set to get groovy and strut its funky stuff in 73 days.
