New Appointments at Banking Circle, Bank of London, Finastra and iProov

The recruits comprise Nick Tubb, Geoff Russell, Lynne Biggar and Miguel Traquina respectively.

There are plenty of tech and fintech changes in the UK with new appointments at Banking Circle, The Bank of London, Finastra and iProov.

Payments bank Banking Circle has appointed Nick Tubb as Global Head of FX to drive its foreign exchange commercial strategy.

The Bank of London, a clearing, agency and transaction bank, has announced the appointment of Geoff Russell as a Non-Executive Director (NED) and Chair of the UK Bank Board Audit Committee (BAC).

Financial software company Finastra has appointed Lynne Biggar to its Board of Directors.

iProov, a biometric face authentication technology company, has announced that Miguel Traquina has joined the organisation as Chief Information Officer.

They Call Me Mister Tubb!

Banking Circle explains that Tubb has 25 years’ experience in commercial roles in the payments space.

He joins Banking Circle from the digital commerce management team at Worldline (formerly Ingenico / Global Collect) where he held overall responsibility for global revenues.

Prior to that he spent more than a decade in non-bank commercial FX, leading business acquisition and growth teams, and has experience working in the UK, North America, Australia, Singapore and the Netherlands as well as running operations in Europe and Scandinavia.

The Russell Club

According to the bank, Russell has over ten years’ experience as a Chair and NED, with roles in industries including banking, fintech and edtech. He has held senior positions across various committees including audit, risk, credit, investments and remuneration/nominations.

He is a qualified accountant – who spent over 25 years at KPMG – with 13 years as a Partner. For example, in 2006, he was seconded from KPMG to HM Treasury as Director of Financial Management and shortly after retiring from KPMG, he was appointed by the UK government to lead the Learning and Skills Council, the largest non-departmental public body in the country at the time.

The bank has been busy. Last month, it made Vincent François its Chief Audit Officer and member of its Executive Management Committee.

As reported last year, The Bank of London launched as the sixth principal clearing bank of the UK – becoming only the second new clearing bank in more than 250 years.

Biggar and Better

Finastra says Biggar brings decades of experience and financial services insight to the Board. Most recently, she was Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Visa, where she led the organisation’s global brand and marketing strategy, including all consumer, B2B and B2B2C marketing activities.

Prior to that, she was Executive Vice President/Consumer Marketing + Revenue at Time Inc. Before that, she spent more than 20 years at American Express in a variety of leadership positions across revenue-generating operating and marketing divisions.

Biggar has been recognised by Forbes as one of the “World’s Most Influential CMOs” three years in a row (2019–2021) and by Business Insider as one of the “25 Most Innovative CMOs in the World” (2020).

Keen on Traquina

Prior to joining iProov, Traquina was Chief Information Officer for Operations and Economic Crime at Santander UK, where he had various engineering and transformation roles overseeing teams around the world. He began his career with Accenture, running financial services projects in Europe and Latin America.

As reported in January, iProov revealed its American dream with a $70 million (£51.7 million) investment from Sumeru Equity Partners.

The tech firm says it plans to enter new geographies throughout 2022. iProov is also bringing biometric authentication to new use cases, including projects with Eurostar and the National Science Foundation.
