Payful Preps for Playful Payments Power-Up

SaaS business wants to create “a community of businesses with good track records of paying invoices on time”.

Manchester-based fintech startup Payful is getting ready to launch as it plans to tackle late payments and fraud through data and payment performance scoring.

The SaaS business is the creation of former Rugby League player Andy Taylor. Along with the sporting background, his experience includes working at fintech firms Indigo Cashflow and DueCourse; and founding HelloCredible. The latter is on hold but is designed to help consumers with zero credit history, build credit history.

Payful is in the beta stage at present but the intention is to create “a community of businesses with good track records of paying invoices on time”.

The firm says users will get a Payful score and use it to build trust with prospects, clients and suppliers.

The startup is targeting business of all sizes, such as fellow startups, SMEs, lenders and PLCs.

Payful’s approach is similar to what HelloCredible plans, but focused on enterprises rather than consumers.

As it is in beta stage the company is currently offering free access.

While Payful is very new, last month it did join Enterprise City’s Exchange scaleup support scheme in Manchester.

The startup is one of 31 names – across agritech, e-commerce, edtech, healthtech, proptech and fintech – that have joined the six-month course.

The scheme is provided in partnership with Tech Nation. Tech firms get access to mentoring from industry specialists, opportunities and support to apply for funding, a network of like-minded entrepreneurs, and a physical base to root in Enterprise City, Manchester’s tech, digital and creative district.
